Pan's Labyrinth. This is yet another sad case of too much expectation. I love my fantasy films, especially children fantasy films. This is why I am not ashamed to admit I love the Harry Potter series, although each subsequent film in the series is getting less interesting ... Anyway, I was really looking forward to this movie. Unfortunately, the fantasy element in this film is less than half the movie. This is hugely disappointing to me. The spine of the plot, of the German occupiers and the Spanish resistance, is pretty much run of the mill to me. Ofelia's discovery, and her three tests, all the way until the end, might be interpreted as an illusion, an escapade from the horrors of the savages of war. Therefore, what was great about the movie, had almost all been revealed in the trailers ... Disappointment.
