A movie about an industry taking a long hard look at itself. A parallel of the lives of two seemingly unrelated men, the fallen star, and the jaded investigator. Adrien Brody tries to uncover whether Mr Superman actually committed suicide, or was there any foul play. He left no stones unturned. The conclusion was ... well, you decide. In the meantime, he got to reflect on his personal life, trying to save his marriage, and his son. I thought Ben Affleck did a decent job this time round, being charming and vulnerable at the same time, what with all the dud movies he been landing himself in lately. Adrien Brody was outstanding again, his smug look makes you like him, and want to punch him sometimes too. The production design was pretty decent, the costumes were nice, the conversations took a little while to get used to, and the supporting cast, like Diane Lane and Bob Hoskins, were capable but not stretched. This was a more likeable effort than "Black Dahlia", I thought, but frankly, not a great movie.
