Happy Feet. We wanted to watch the movie because of the music. Period. I was particularly impressed by the reindition of George Michael's Somebody to Love Me. Well, the movie delivered what the trailer promised, lots of songs to be enjoyed. The other highlighted songs for me were the two "mating" songs, where the female sang, and the other males try to butt in with their different styles of singing ... However, the impending theme and message of the movie disturbed me a little, for, as the movie was deliberated marketed and targetted for the very young, the message, to me, seemed a little too serious, and perhaps dark, for the young to swallow. The session I watched, I was sitting with a whole row of young children and accompanying adults, and I could sense their lost at the final 1/2 hour of the film. To me, sometimes it is better to stick to what already works, and not throw in extra spanners ...
Chris Galistan and the Seven Seeds. Beng got me involved in this primary school production in the UCC. On the school side, I must say that this is one of the better school productions I had been involved. I was particularly impressed with the overall discipline and planning, and even the primary one students conducted themselves pretty well. The story and songs were of reasonable standard too. On the other hand, I was not too pleased with the venue. Security was tight, but at some points, needed a little more discretion. When you pay so much, you expect a little more service on the service side. The tech team were great, they were a nice bunch of chaps to work, and hang out, with, so that was good, it helped the production a lot when they pitched in advise to make the show better. Overall it was still a good experience working in the venue.
