Gigolo Wannabe. It has been a while since we had a good Jap movie, so I had high hopes over this film. After watching it, erm, it didn't sit very well for me. My main grouse was that there was not enough of a plot happening throughout the film. It was rather oddly balanced, somewhere between a feel-good comedy, or one extorting the fine aspirations of being male hosts. The ending also left much to be desired, limping away from the professional focus to other mundane getaways. It doesn't help as well that a lot of the lines were downright corny. Pity pity, this ought to be a castaway B-grade movie somewhere.
Friends with Money. I didn't have too high hopes over this movie, because friends + money + Jennifer. But hey, I found myself liking this film quite a bit. Credit goes to great acting chops shared between the ensemble cast, including the other three friends, their spouses, and the men around Jennifer's character. The characters were very well written, they did not become the steoreotypes that we initially thought they would turn out, which would had been very annoying. I would say that this is Jeniffer's first good film ... which is saying a lot I guess. And oh, this is not quite a women's film as I feared initially, which was a relief.
