Monday night, watched Lake House, alone, alone, alone. For a romantic film, this film ain't a tearjerker for me. Now, I like the original Korean film, Il Mare. There were plenty of loose ends with that film, but I really like the mood and atmosphere of that film, and the house of course. After watching this film, I thought that I like this film as well too. This is rather rare as usually one would either like the original or prefer the remake. I prefer the Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock pairing better. I thought that the couple in the film should be middle, or close to middle age, like these two, when they had been through life a little longer, then they can apporach this "relationship" with more apprehension, more care, then more hope. I didn't like this house as much though, preferring the more simple Korean house. Should buy the vcd or dvd when it comes out.
Tuesday evening, IPPT. Dragged this half tired body to Maju Camp for the annual pilgrimage. Dreadding the moment when I could not lift myself up enough, and went home early again. Oh well, another month or two there regularly again. Its ok, used to it already. Nothing much has changed since my last visit, except that now there is bus 52 that goes directly to my place. Next time, in two years time, I will be cat Z, wow ...
Brownies. I love them, warm, slightly bitter, and especially with vanilla ice cream on top, must eat when one is warm and the other not melted ... wait wait wait, alamak, supposed to be blogging about the film ... Anyway, this is an Indonesian film screened at GV Marina Square as part of the ASEAN film festival. There were only ... six audience in the house, and Anand and I are two of them. We couldn't understand why there were no more audience ... the film is highly entertaining; the cast were gorgeous; the art direction was a little too upper middle class for Indonesia, but sure is pleasing to the eye; the script is rather erratic, sometimes going too fast, other times to melodramatic ... surely a film that can do reasonably well if given a commercial release, with a little publicity push and some rah rah ... hope the Sunday afternoon will have a little more crowd lah. This ASEAN film festival deserves a little more effort, for if we don't watch our regional films, who would?
Happy Birthday. So how is my birthday number 33? Watched two nice films, one in the morning, one at night. Am happy with both. Anyway, it's scary to think that I am one third of a century old. Can I reach a century old? Do I want to? My precious grandmother is on her way there, she can still walk strongly, although she has a hard time remembering people, even her own children and grandchildren. I have no wish to be like that ... anyway, lots of well wishes from many corners, from midnight to midnight, so I am reasonably pleased. Am looking forward to meet the Whitley kids on Saturday, still need to find time to meet Drew and Jo, and next Sat meet Anand, Hui Teen and May for Second Link, so yeah, all is pretty well and dandy ...
