Sunday lunch with Cassandra, Amanda, Sharanya and Gillian at Carl's Junior in Marina Square. This is the second time I hang out with any of these girls (yesterday was the first). Well, these girls can eat, all of them finished their burgers. I was impressed. No case of anorexia here. I got a nice present from them. Thank you girls. It is playing music right now ... I thought it was through this production that the two sec ones gelled with the two sec threes. Well you don't really know the age gap till you stand far away enough ... anyway, it was fun and messy, as with every Carl's Junior meal. Oh wait, I found out yesterday that there is a new Carl's Junior outlet at the basement of Plaza Singapura, taking over the space previously owned by Breadtalk. Can it be possibly that this Breadtalk did not do well?
We were joined by Xiang Ying at Ben & Jerry's in Suntec City. My favourite outlet is still the one at Novena Square, mainly because that one really makes out feel young at heart, and a big reason would be because there is a Toy's R Us opposite that outlet. Anyway we needed to wait a while for a seat because this outlet was really packed, being situated opposite Carrefour. As mentioned that because it was really packed, there weren't many flavours to choose from for my triple scope on a waffle tray, but I still got my chunky monkey, but no New York Fudge ... This outlet did not make me feel as comfortable as the ones at Novena Square, or Great World City, or even the Cathay building. Ice cream parlours should not be packed, good and expensive ice cream should not be tasted in a hurry, as with all great food.
The highlight of the day was watching Homesick. The cast was witty and hilarious, Jon's direction was superb, and Alfian's script, once again, hits home, and across the causeway, time and time again. The play did feel long at time, what with most of the cast on stage most of the time, it can get quite tedious to watch so many things happening at times. I guess this was in tune in causing claustophobia amongst the characters, since they need to live with each other throughout the ten days of confinement. Yes, it did bring back memories of the uncertainties during the outbreak. I was remembering the sharing sessions we had with the NEA staff when we did the workshops with them two years ago, and a lot of them had a lot to say about SARS, including trying to keep calm amidst the chaos, trying to tell themselves to stay focus while helping those around them who needed the advice and assurance that everything was going to be alright, that as a nation we can pull through this crisis together. Yeah, the play did say a few things about SARS, but maybe not enough ...
