I haven't blogged for donkeys. Apologies.
It's been all MGS since the World Cup. What a comparison, or shall I say, no comparison ... Then again, I can't wait for the new English Premier League to begin. Hah hah ...
It was quite a weird experience. Me, a non-believer (still), putting in so many hours of blood, sweat and tears, to put up the lights in all these locations around the school. I know the back of the school like the back of my hand now. The security guys told me I should take up a job with them as well, since I was around so often at night ...
But at the end of the day, I am glad and proud to have been involved in this unique show. Thanks to Wen Fu for lassoing us into Blackmore Drive. Thanks to Jonathan for his vision, first and foremost, for without him, nobody else can, and dare to, dream of such a project, in Singapore. I think this is really really close to the show we saw in Perth. More importantly, it moved me as much as it did then. The power of great stories, from the bible.
It is great to see the growth and improvements made by many of the girls, from the embarrassing auditions, up to the confident performances on shownights. From the elder girls like Cielo, Bev, Kail, Sherylene, Stacey, Juls, to the younger girls like Joanne, JenYi, Genevieve, Alyssa, Mei Zhi and Ann. Not forgetting Kelly and Kathleen, one is sweet and sexy, the other is fierce and domineering. Did their parents come watch? What will they think?
The sound and lighting girls had a tough and great time too, from the first contact at the beginning of the June hols, when they were flung all over the four corners of the school, to cover as much technical aspects as possible, to the smooth execution of cues and tasks on shownight. Audience never get to see how the people in black run about in the dark to push the next button, or turn the next dimmer, but I will always know. So thank you, Amanda, Amanda, Cassandra, Andrea, Sharanya, Gillian, Xiang Ying, Esther, Evangeline, Valerie, Tracy, did I miss anyone? Anyway, I hope I had taught them a little about technical stuff in these two months. You never know what they know ...
Oh, and I also need to thank the choir girls for the card. I can't remember what I did much for them, I only know Joelle and Shernise, but anyway, thanks girls.
I also want to one small group of girls who were not mentioned in the programme - Jaime, Petrina, Kristin, Beulah, Isabel, Bethel. You know your contributions. Thank goodness you still found your ways in all parts of the show. You are all amazing.
Flipping through the programme booklet, I can't help but feel amazed that so many girls were involved in this massive show. And there really was a lot of effort from everybody, from the rehearsals from all the performers, to the running ups and downs from my tech girls, to Kim Fong's set-up girls, and the ushers, who cover up the rest of the tasks that pop up at the last moment ...
Thanks MGS and your girls, for the walk.
