Rounded up Sat night with chalet near Changi Village. Its the SAF chalet, and the greatest part is that it faces the sea, not that I was anywhere near there. Glad that I made the last 29 bus, since I was the only passenger heading towards the other end, I guess the bus driver probably thought I was out looking for ah-g... oh nevermind. Anyway, the usual mah-jong gang wasn't there, so it was a pretty quiet night. In order not to waste the night away, three of us actually hoped into the car and went ... to the new budget terminal ... to check it out just in case we want to travel on the Tiger Airways in the near future mah. Anyway, the terminal was very ... functional, there was only what you needed to fly away, and come back, and Han's in between. Not satisfied, we hoped on the shuttle bus to T2, whereby we plonked ourselves onto the plush cushions of Pacific Coffee, drank coffee and surfed the free internet. All too soon its time to go back, have breakfast in the Changi Village hawker centre, where nothing much was opened, and what we eventually bought and ate were ... forgotten. Then it is back to the balcony to watch the sun rise, and then to bed to zzz ...
Crazy Stone. Finally caught the China movie that everybody was talking about ... outside the friends that I know, that is. It was only screened in Plaza Sing. I must say that, for a China movie, or more accurately, a Chongqing movie, the cinematic values are pretty high. The storyboarding was incredible, even though the pace was very fast, and there were several perspectives, the film was pretty easily understood, for me. The young and new director was not afraid to try almost every other camera trick from the trade. The casting was excellent, the ensemble did a wonderful job. It was not a big budget production, but nothing looked cheap, even the high tech gadget by the professional thief looked half decent too. The slight problem was that they were speaking in local dialect, hence we had to rely on the subtitles often, and we all know what the quality of subtitling can be exasperating pretty regularly. All in all, a highly satisfactory film, worth recommending to all to watch.
