It's time to catch up on my irregular dosage of French art-house films at Alliance. Tonight's offering was Housewarming, which was a little misleading, as there was more renovation than warming, but perhaps the director meant the warming of the oddball team of carpenters, plumbers, tilers, etc, and well the building of family relationships between mother and children. This is typical French farce and slapstick humour, which was why the auditorium was suitably packed, unlike most of other local screenings whereby the place was less than half full. The icing of the cake was the cameo of Hugh Grant at the end. A very charming and infectious comedy, certainly a nice way to end a lovely evening.
