Heh, heh, SIFF is around the corner. In fact, the fringe screenings begin this weekend. Can't wait for the annual pilgrimage to begin.
So far I have had company for 13 ... no, 12 films. Yeah. They are: If You Were Me: Anima Vision; Zozo; Avertik; Nitaboh; Angel's Fall; Rubber Soul Project; Workingman's Death; If You Were me 2; Blue Cha Cha; Giant Buddhas; Men at Work; and Chinese Restaurants. Anyone going for these screenings? We can meet up before or after leh ...
I still want to catch Glamorous Life of Sachiko Hanai; Fearless Freaks; Burnt Theatre; Pepet Superstar; Todo Todo Teros; Grandpa is a Raisin; and Invisible.
This habit of avalanche of watching films non-stop, cultivated since university days, to most outsiders, seems like a strange obsession. How else can you explain strangers and old friends coming together once a year, for three weeks, at venues that you normally won't visit for the rest of the year, huddling together in cinemas that may not have the finest seats or sound technology, enduring sometimes bad prints, out of focused images, subtitles that were chopped off before the projectionist realises anything, prints that were attached wrongly, etc ... why go through this ordeal year in and year out? This is my 12th year man, my first booklet was in 1995 ...
Nah, why think that much, just spend the money and go and enjoy good films lah ...
Anyway there will be more write-ups from me about the film fest, of course. So look out lah.
