New Malaysian Shorts. Much mixed feelings. I did not fidget and look at my watch, yet there were couples leaving by the forth short film. My friend told me it had something to do with the arrangement of the films lah ...
The Amber Sexology was damn confusing, which was why the above-mentioned couples left in frustration, now that I just read the lead male, Harris, is the same character played by different males, I suddenly see the light ... but still, why did the second and fifth film, featuring the same sequence, but everybody in the second film spoke English, and the fifth film, everybody spoke Malay ...
Marjidee (?) was refreshing after the above-mentioned. It was very candidly-scripted, but I thought it was pretty nicely wovened together.
It’s Possible your Heart Cannot be Broken. I thought Ah Tat was pretty convincing as the simpleton; Tan Chui Mui as Apple was pretty cute. Nice use of posters around her house ...
A Moment of Love. About water, washing machine, bills, toilet paper, a couple coping, work stress, emptiness, silence, running tap ... running water.
Sometimes Love Is Beautiful. Admit it, motorcycle girl likes laundry girl right?
South of South. The film was moving nicely along. A Chinese family living in the kampong had to deal with Vietnamese refugees. Where is the drama, as the boy runs into the twilight ...
So what is the moral of the short films. It is great to be working with fellow filmmakers. You help each other finish each other films ...
