My SIFF 06 began with If You Were Me: Anima Vision, a collection of 6 short Korean animation, all about the theme of prejudice. There were all of a very good standard, all using different forms of animation, narration, etc. I really like Day Dream, about a little girl who is borne with defective limbs, and her father trying to enrol her into a kindergarten; At Her House, about a career woman trying to juggle family with work, with a lazy husband, and how she took matters in her own hands ...; and Bicycle Trip, about a bicycle tracing the route that lead to the death of its owner, an Indian illegal immigrant. So, whether it is a goat trying to fit in, an ugly woman coping with a world that is obsessed with beauty, and a gorilla trying to turn human, prejudice is indeed around every corner that we turn. This is a very meaningful film, that ought to circulate schools and institutions, for it can indeed teach a lot of people a thing or two about treating other people better.
