Had intended to watch Transamerica last night, my last of the Oscar-creditted films, before I divert to the distraction that is the Singapore International Film Festival. But would you believe it, half an hour before the 6.15pm screening at Cineleisure, and it was sold out. Made a quick decision to catch another film, and it was the French production, Russian Dolls.
The movie poster looks like it is a movie about a man and his many women / girlfriends, which makes for a pretty cheap flick. Well thankfully the film has a little more depth than that. This is the sequel to the Spanish Apartment, a film I watched about ... 5 years ago. Really? Has it been that long? It is not a big loss if you missed the previous film though. Anyway, the film is just about above average. It won't change much about your life, your perception about relationships and commitment. You would probably envy the protagonist's ease at getting women (into bed ...), but you won't be jealous at how he had to get himself out of troubles, again and again. The lesson to be learnt here: when to stop finding and finding for the perfect one, and commit to the one who is most suitable for you. There, nothing new here ...
Hmmm, when shall I make my way to the new Cathay cinema / Picturehouse? The ticket price is atrocious, at $10. I hope they know that the cinema is "confirmed" deserted on weekdays, since normal cinema tickets from Monday to Wednesday cost only $7. Any Plaza Sing is a stone's throw away. None of the opening films are appetizing enough, especially when Three Times is heavily rumoured to be in DVD format ... so might as well hunt for the DVD then ...
Must watch RENT when it opens on Thursday! I didn't watch the musical last November, because, because, because ... Karen Mok ... thank goodness not many new films to look forward to before SIFF ...
Yeah, Melissa is watching "Men at Work" and "If You Were Me 2" with me. More! More! More! Any one for Giant Buddhas, or Nitaboh, or Glamorous Life of Sachiko Hanai, or Fearless Freaks, or Wrong Side Up???
Rats! ANIC2 is postponed! Was looking forward to this early-May production, reuniting many old friends, doing a show at UCC concert hall ... nevermind, wait for it to return one day.
