Its been a while since I watched TV on a weekday morning. No wait, I last did that during the NBA All-Star East vs. West weekend ... Anyway, was up to watch the Oscars. Yeah, since I can. Hah hah hah. No point watching at night cos they gonna edit and censor, so better catch the live one lah.
I don't know this guy Jon Stewart. At the end of the day, although I think he is funny as well, I don't think I will remember him as well as the rest. He just doesn't have enough ... personality. I would say. You need a lot of that to host an event such as this, when anything and everything would happen.
The opening sequence was not too exciting. I was rather disappointed. It was great to see the ex-hosts, rejecting the opportunity to host, but the whole sequence just does not make the cut. Blame it on Billy Crystal for making the beginning sequence the most anticipated item for every Oscars ... but it was still a hoot to see him share the tent with Chris Rock.
I am glad that Lee Ang won. It was nice to see a Chinese winning the biggest individual award for the night. And when he mentioned China, Hong Kong and Taiwan in the same sentence, well, it meant something. And Thank You in Chinese too ... And we also saw Zhang Zi Yi sitting a few rows back ...
Brokeback did not win best picture. Felicity Hoffman did not win best actress. You know tongues are gonna wag about the academy's biased towards gays and lesbians and others ... well, let it be lah. Tis just an award. You can't win everything. Brokeback has won enough; Felicity is more than just a desperate housewife ...
Post Oscars mean ... gonna catch up with those movies. I have to watch Transamerica and Capote before they end. And are they gonna bring Good Night and Good Luck? Fingers crossed ... If I have the time, I should watch Brokeback again, just to prove myself again that I am ... whatever ...
