It was Levin's birthday. The three of us, Wen Fu, Jon, and I treated him to dinner at Baccarat. Hope the spelling is correct. Greg came early, and Yvonne came late, but we had a good time. The guys are notoriously picky with food, so Baccarat passed our test lah. The variety was pretty widespread, with a good pick of soups, salads, tepenyakis, sushi's, Italians, Chinese, dim sums, desserts ... we sat for a good 3 hours, until the restaurant kicked us out, something like that. The decor was pleasing to the eye, pseudo Jap & Zen like style in furnishing and crockery too. Here's hoping the place can last a little longer than the usual ...
Walk the Line today. Wanted to see how good Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon are, to win best acting honours for the Golden Globes, as well as nominations for the Oscars. Joaquin certainly did not disappoint, although I did not see how much Reese had broken out of her more airhead blonde image ... Joaquin certainly looked like he had a lot of research done to play the role, and acted really well; Reese, well, because a lot of her screen time was on the stage, so there were not that many emotional, dramatic moments, off the stage, for her, so I was not too convinced with her personae ... However, I think they both scored great in the singing department, which I think are their own voices, so that is a lot of credit to them.
