Went to support Tzer Huei's gig last night. It was pretty much a personal affair, most of the audience, the house was pretty good, were friends or theatre people. There was a distinct theatre flavour in the audience. I suspect this adds more pressure to the performer. Well, he did not disappoint. I thought it was a more accomplished effort than his maiden work. So all I can say is good luck and keep up the good work.
Tonight made a last minute decision to watch Derek Jarman's work, Glitterbug. There were about less than 20 audience in the crowd. This is hardly surprising, given the nature of his works, which are not exactly accessible. I found myself in a state of deja vu, as I sat through an hour of audio soundscapes again ... well it was actually scored by Brian Eno, who was as eccentric as Derek Jarman I guess ... It was great to see Tilda Swindon a little more youthful and energetic than her ice queen role ... I was rather disappointed to have missed out on the Pet Shop Boys videos, although the Smiths videos were still eye-openers as well ... A film to enjoy at the moment, and then to be forgotten after that ...
