Confessions of 300 Unmarried Men. it was a difficult decision to make, to watch or not to watch. On one hand it felt like 6 Lonely Oysters all over again; on another hand it would be great to go support Benjamin and Tim Ang, ooops, Nga ...
The show began 15 minutes late. I overhead it was to wait for a special guest. No apologies were made about starting late. You won't find this happening at the Esplanade, would you?
I only warmed up when Benjamin had the house attention with his "Who Wants to Marry Ah Seng?" Thought that was a pretty convincing and touching portrayal of a low-educated man trying to find a wife, in the house ... close to the heart, perhaps?
The next time I paid attention was when the son who went to watch the Crazy Horse performance bumped into his mom and companion, which leads to a piece about foreign brides.
Finally the three old men with their three singing birds in their cages. Confusing at times but quite touching actually.
In between, have to endure a cheap set, dark lighting, abrupt sound, not so correct nor clear diction, not so fantastic direction ... Not a great evening spent I guess ...
