Sheesh, and I thought something is wrong with my blog again. Patience, patience ... 5 days had passed since my last entry.

Sound of Colours musical. It is not often we get to see a Mandarin musical on these shores. The last one was ... Snow.Wolf.Lake? Since this is adapted from Jimmy Liao's hit comics, we await eagerly for its arrival at the Esplanade Theatre Station. The turnout was rather disappointing on Sunday night, I believe Circles 2 and 3 were vacant. Maybe 500 more closet Jimmy's fans did not hear about the musical.
I shall not chat about the production and technical (de)merits here. As a (Mandarin) musical, we ... ought not compare it to our usual Broadway and West End standards, like Phantom, Oliver, and Mamma ... I am listening to the musical CD (with Jimmy's autograph, yeah!) as I am typing this, and I must say, the music grows on you ... Cheer Chen is spot-on as the Blind Girl, her high and innocent voice does not betray she is actual more then twice as old as her character ... the projection of the comics' illustrations lends a very charming and colourful look to the ^%$^%#$ lighting ...
On the whole, I would have enjoyed it better if I am a non-theatre person. What to do ...

Alfie. Watched it with a mostly guys' group of friends at midnight. Only if you like, make that love, Jude Law. If that is the case, then maybe the gals would love the movie better ... Does the movie have any depth? I thought the second half, dragged the good pace depicted in the first half of the movie. Yeah, when in doubt, start acting ... NOT Academy Award performance though, Annette Benning in Being Julia deserves a better shot then this one ...

George Chua and Aspidistra Fly. George, I think when you talk, people would want to watch you a little more than when you are tweeking those knobs and clicking that mouse behind your Apple ... either way, your speech and your underwater plants seem a hit with the young crowd. Likewise, for the Aspidistra duo, it may be cool to perform in the dark, but not when you are trying to find your way around your guitar cables and stand. I bought both CDs, but sorry, my Sound of Colours CD is refusing to leave the player ...
