Watched Look At Me in my favourite cinema, Orchard Cineleisure, this afternoon.
For the uninitiated, this closing film of the recent Spore French Film Fest won Best Screenplay in the recent Cannes Film Fest ...
I think I know why this film won Best Screenplay. The characterisation is amazing. Every major character is very well written, and wonderfully portrayed. Everybody knows whats wrong with everybody else ... but can't handle their own weaknesses. The layering of each character's way of dealing with each other is fascinating ...
Unfortunately, this well written script, did not quite translate into a wonderful film ... my friend and I were not particularly struck by the film when the credits were rolling. Somehow there wasn't much else to look out for other than character study ...
Nevertheless, an excellent film for sociology and psychology study, in my opinion ...

Two nights of the Theatreworks' Flying Circus project went past me ...
The once-every-two-years event was particularly low key to start off with. I didn't see the publicity flyers til middle of this week. Likewise there was no posting on my dear arts comm til recently ...
Tonight was a talk by Ayu Utami. I have not heard of her, naturally, as her two books are only published in Indonesia, and in Bahasa as well. I was quite keen to look at her works after the inspiring talk, but unfortunately since her works are only in Bahasa ... now that sort of whet's one appetite ...
Hope the subsequent events are more anticipated and better attended.
