Just spent the last 1/2 hour browsing around for articles on Chestnuts. Quite a few blogs, but they don't write long nor insightful enough ... 8-(
For the record, the following is
THE number of times Chestnuts had been staged:
1st: 1996 - Jubilee Hall, Raffles Hotel
2nd: 1997 - Jubilee Hall, Raffles Hotel
3rd: 1998 - The Blue Room, Perth, Australia (Sean was studying there, so we decided everybody was going there to join him to entertain the Aussies ...)
1999 - Sean was in Japan. No way we are going up there ...
4th: 2000 - CHIJMES Hall
5th: 2001 - Drama Centre, then DBS Theatre
2002 - Jon was in Australia.
6th: 2003 - DBS Theatre
7th: 2004 - Jubilee Hall, Raffles Hotel
Is this the longest running show in Singapore? Even longer than Chang and Eng?
Is this still the best kept secret of Singapore theatre?
Hope next year's show will be bigger, and better attended ...

Since I am such a passive person, with hobbies nothing more than watching plays, films, dances, concerts, movies (yes, to me, there is a difference between films and movies ... movies are Hollywood and Hongkie ... films are French and Iranian ...) I like nothing more than to talk cock about them with friends ... or at least read about them in the papers or online ...
Sadly, the amount of info flowing with regards to discourse or criticism, preview or review ...
I think maybe I don't try hard enough. I think maybe I don't spam my friends enough with emails of upcoming productions and festivals. That I don't send enough smses to friends to persuade tem to watch something together. That I / we don't have to remind that we always have a last bus or train to catch, or there is work, or church, the next morning ...
Or maybe I just don't have enough in myself to encourage people to talk more about that show, other than, "ok lor", "not scary one leh", "funny lah" ...
I should read more from newspapers and the web. Sad to say, most of them, copy from the official webpage ... or from someone else's work ... At least with big movies, there are fan sites, who, although wax lyrically in a most positive mammer, at least can be rather insightful and thought provoking ...
Case in point, Harry Potter ...
Ooops, did I spill something there ...
Anyway, to those who read this, and had watched Chestnuts, please tell me more about what you think of that show ...

Tomorrow watching Incredibles. Finally. Promise to write something lah ...
